Set-up your document management system or resource management system poorly, and everyone will complain about lack of user friendliness and wasted time. Don’t convince them using change management. Using concepts from business process management (BPM) – e.g. creating an information model – can improve quality and reduce development costs.
Many organisations need to guarantee some kind of quality. Intuition is great in many aspects, but when it comes down to a vaccine, your customers are not interested in your gut feel. On the other extreme are companies who do an awful lot of testing, without the proper statistics. It costs a lot: to the organisation, to the customers and to society. Not all waste is poor quality: it might be the lack of confirmation of good quality. Some of you have heard about AQL sampling. There are better ways in many situations that can save you a lot of time and money.
